Info about Hull City Football Ground: KCOM Stadium

Although synonymous with the Tigers as far as football fans are concerned, the KCOM Stadium is actually a multi-purpose arena which was completed at a cost of £44million back in 2002.The stadium is owned in full by Hull City Council and managed by SMC with football games featuring Hull City and rugby league games featuring Hull FC both hosted here.

To be able to handle the rigours of a multi-purpose venue, the pitch at the KCOM is made up of a mixture of natural grass and the now popular synthetic fibres which are woven through at the very bottom of the surface to improve the overall look and feel of the playing area.

That area measures a slightly shorter than standard 104 metres by a wider than normal 78 metres and is served in the winter months by an undersoil heating system.

KCOM Stadium Capacity

Over 25,000 people can gain access to the KCOM stadium on matchdays.

Stands

The stadium is essentially made up of the North and South Stands behind each goal with the East and West Stands running the length of the pitch. The KCOM is a bowl however and so all stands join up in the corners with the West Stand the one to have an upper tier and playing host to directors, corporate guests and the players.

Away Fans At The KCOM Stadium

The north-east corner of the KCOM is used to house away fans with a lowish standard allocation of 1,300 tickets. This can be increased at times to 2,600 for certain games.

Given the stadium’s modernity it isn’t surprising that feedback as regards seat pitch, food, drink and service tend to all be positive with the concourse areas noted as being particularly large.

Ticket Prices

As is the modern way, Hull’s ticket prices are staggered but they do it in a very simplistic way easy to follow for all fans. Games are tiered into Category A, B or C games while the seats around the ground are simply placed into Zone 1, 2 or 3 depending on how good they are.

Single adult matchday tickets then for Category A games in Zones 1, 2 and 3 are £24/£27/£30. For Category B this is £18/£24/£27 and for Category C £12/£18/£24. Concessions are also offered for younger and older visitors.

Hospitality

A range of restaurants and suites can accommodate corporate or hospitality guests for anywhere between £1,000 and £2,000 for the whole season. Executive Boxes offer a whole different level of service and are priced at £14,000 for the season (all prices plus VAT) though for match-by-match prices you will need to contact the club directly.

How To Get To The KCOM

The KCOm Stadium sits only a mile west of the city centre and the main train station serving Hull, around a 20-minute walk for most people. Many major cities connect with Hull via rail, especially Leeds.

Buses serve the area well and run to Anlaby Road while drivers may take the M64 motorway before following the A63 towards the city of Hull. Exit the A63 following signs for Local Traffic and Infirmary before seeing signs for the KCOM Stadium.

Future Developments

In terms of the playing area, stands and regular facilities there are no immediate plans to modernise or develop what is still a pretty new stadium, though the management company running the stadium are thought to want a 32,000 capacity before long.
