Selhurst Park opened for business back in 1924 and among its great memories is its hosting of the 1948 Summer Olympics and an international between England and Wales as well as its long association with Crystal Palace Football Club.
Groundshares in London have been common over the years due to redevelopment issues in the capital and Selhurst Park has more than played its part, first hosting Charlton Athletic from 1985 to 1991 and then Wimbledon from 1991 right up to 2003.Selhurst Park

The Eagles though are naturally the proper tenants and have played here since August 1924 when they played host to Sheffield Wednesday and still ply their trade on the site to this day, though things have changed a lot over the decades in terms of the stadium’s aesthetics.

The playing surface measures a slightly less than standard 101 metres by 68 metres and is made up of both natural grass and synthetic fibres, as is the wont of most Premier League clubs today. Undersoil heating is deployed on cold days to ensure matches are not called off due to frost or snow.

Capacity
Just over 26,000 fans squeeze into Selhurst Park for home Premier League matches and as one of the older grounds out there, the atmosphere is renowned with both sets of supporters singing throughout and the makeup of the stadium lending itself to the noise generated by fans.

Stands
The pitch length is lined by the Arthur Wait Stand and the Main Stand opposite which has a Fanzone and club shop outside. Behind each goal are the Holmesdale Road Stand and Whitehorse Lane Stand. The latter houses the Executive Boxes and provides an excellent view of the action.

Away Fans At Selhurst Park
Opposition supporters are placed in the Arthur Wait Stand, these days over on the western side of the stand in one of the oldest parts of the stadium. Views are sometimes obscured in this area due to the three pillars, while because of the old low roof those at the very back suffer a similar fate unfortunately.

Ticket Prices
Prices are split between Category A and Category B games, separated by the level of opposition and date of the game etc. Single adult prices for the former range from £37 – £50 while B games are priced at £27 – £40 though various concessions are offered on all Premier League games and cup prices will naturally differ.

Hospitality
Matchday packages for the 2010 Club or the Legends Restaurant are available upon request, while a spot in the Executive Boxes will run from £2,000 per person plus VAT for a typical Premier League game.

How To Get To Selhurst Park
Selhurst Park is located in the London suburb of Selhurst in the Borough of Croydon, a 10-minute stroll from Norwood Junction and Selhurst stations and by rail is the easiest way of getting to the club.

Driving to Selhurst Park involves leaving the M25 motorway at junction 7 and following the A23 to Croydon. Follow signs for Crystal Palace Football Club and the stadium will appear, though driving to the club on matchday is not recommended. Bus routes operate in the area and serve the stadium too.

Future Developments
Crystal Palace announced back in December 2017 plans to transform Selhurst Park, now 94 years old, in order to increase the capacity from its current 26,000 to over 34,000. Currently the Main Stand only holds 5,400 people and this would rise to 13,500 in the redevelopment.
