John Barnes Accused England for Racism
The former team member of Liverpool, John Barnes, had accused England for not being able to tackle racism in their society. This legendary football player was talking about the racist chants faced by Danny Rose and Raheem Sterling during the Euro 2020 qualifier match. While commenting upon this news, John Barnes conceded that there seems to be a hypocrisy in the way the country is reacting to the aforementioned abuse of their players.
Even though UEFA had taken account of this racism and proceeded with disciplinary action, but there is still a growing demand of the public for severe penalties on the rival team.
According to Barnes, the stand taken by public is quite hypocritical as no care has been taken of such actions in the England itself. He also referred to the abuse which was hurled at Sterling during a match between City and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In his interview, he also tried to draw attention to the racial abuse faced by black football players throughout the country on daily basis.
